After Operation DEFRAUD in the Burmese jungle in 1945 the patrol leader, Major ER Breen, wrote in the debrief
“I managed to collect a positively revolting gang of thugs from No.3 Troop whose sole object in life appeared to be the desire to put into practice all the non-British tricks learnt in unarmed combat, weapon firing... “
G A Davies was among those men.

Russian Assault Boats head to Syria
Russian Naval vessels traveling from bases in the Black Sea to Syria, have to pass through the narrow Bosporus, a narrow strait between Europe and the Middle East. Turkey sits both sides of the strait, with the vessels passing directly through Istanbul. This means that Russian boats heading to Syria are closely monitored. This morning a Russian Naval vessel carrying two assault boats passed south toward Syria.

LTTE Sea Tigers sneak attack craft and midget subs
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE, popularly known as the Tamil Tigers) waged a bloody civil war with the Sri Lankan government from 1983 until 2009, when they were defeated.
As the LTTE grew from a guerilla movement into a quasi-conventional army, they built up a naval capability as the Sea Tigers. They had a range of innovative and asymmetric capabilities, including explosive suicide boats, divers, semi-submersibles and crude submarines. New photo emerges of Yugo Class midget sub
Operating under great secrecy, photos of the North Korean made ‘YUGO Class’ midget submarines operated by the Vietnamese Navy are very rare. Two YUGO Class midget submarines supplied in 1997 and are operated by submarine unit M96. The deal included 16 torpedoes, 282 batteries and 8 mines. Although the torpedo type is not reported they are known to be of 1960s Soviet type, probably Type 53-56 rather than the more recent CHT-02D type.
Although the image only shows the upper surfaces, the outer doors of the twin 533mm (21”) torpedo tubes are clearly visible in the nose. The yellow object is a distress / communication buoy. The hatch halfway along the forward casing is for a diver lock-out chamber.
