Greek USV ER69D

Flag Greece The discovery of a Ukrainian uncrewed surface vessel (USV) in a Greek sea cave is a useful reminder that Greece too has several USV manufacturers. One of the most interesting, and aesthetically clean, designs is the ER69D from Trygons Drones .

The 7 meter long vessel is noteworthy for its clean liners which hide its large (4.2 m3) hangars for quadcopter drones. Some 56 small FPV (first person view) drones can be carried in the 4 hangars.

The small FPVs have limited combat range and payload but could have dramatic effects. It is in some respects the perfect platform to launch the coastal equivalent of Operation Spiderweb. In that famous operation Ukraine launched FPVs from concealed hangars hidden in the roofs of truck trailers, and destroyed Russian bombers at their air bases.

It is plausible that a smaller number of larger drones could be launched, and the hangars could presumably be used for other payloads, or even a single explosive charge for ramming attacks.
