OSINT: Possible Fire Aboard Chinese Navy (PLAN) Warship, Qingdao, China

Flag China Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) suggests that a Chinese Navy (PLAN) warship may have caught fire on December 27. The vessel and smoke is visible in Sentinel-2 satellite imagery of Qingdao, were one of China's aircraft carriers is based. The warship hasn't been identified but appears destroyer sized.

One possibility is that it is not on fire. Instead it may be a warship with old-fashioned boilers readying its engines. The apparent haste of the smaller ships around it suggests that it is more than that however.

Sovremenny-class destroyer
Older warships which have boilers, such as the PLAN's 4 Sovremenny-class sips, can cause a lot of smoke.
